Electrician

Performs electrical work in constructing new buildings and remodels in commercial and industrial areas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works safely in all instances.
  • Performs any and all electrical duties on the job.
  • Bends and runs conduit and raceways to house electrical wiring for systems throughout building.
  • Performs installation of switch gear.
  • Reads blueprints to know where to install electrical systems.
  • Pulls cable, wire, though pipe to complete terminations.
  • Builds and mounts electrical distribution equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of electrical control work and how to troubleshoot. Knowledge of materials. Technical knowledge of major and minor electrical materials and their uses. Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and components involved in entire system. Knowledge of parts available and use. Knowledge of commercial electrical construction. Knowledge of tools, tool uses, and repair techniques. Knowledge of fire alarm codes and requirements to meet local standards. Knowledge of other trades to coordinate electrical installation. Knowledge of mathematics sufficient to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions. Knowledge of national electrical code. Knowledge of motor controls. Knowledge of Safety and OSHA standards. Knowledge of all Federal, State, and Local standards relating to safety. Knowledge of all MSDS right to know material.

Skill in troubleshooting problems with fire alarm and components. Skill in reading and writing. Skill in managing others so that the work assignment gets completed. Skill in prioritizing and re-prioritizing to meet job needs. Skill in problem solving. Skill in organizing work to accomplish tasks. Skill in managing stress to carry out the work assignment. Skill in estimating resources needed to complete required tasks. Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints. Skill in time management. Skill in managing equipment. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, and internal and external customers. Skill in effective written and oral communication sufficient to be able to elicit and communicate information and achieve understanding. Skill in being sensitive to customer urgency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typical construction work including climbing ladders climbing stairs, lifting (up to 20 lbs.) bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting, standing, grasping, and driving.

Compensation:

Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour
